Point Break

by Friends of

/

about

Point Break is an homage to Southern California surf culture and the Keanu Reeves/Patrick Swayze cult classic of the same name. The lyrics are delivered with a smirk, stringing together assorted surf cultural references in a humorous stream of consciousness. Featuring surf rock guitars, retro synths and a deep disco groove, “Point Break” sounds as if The Beach Boys, Gorillaz and Myd headed up the Pacific Coast Highway to record to cassette in their van. The forthcoming music video will bring this world further to life through drone footage of local So-Cal breaks, action surf shots, and playful spoofing of the film that inspired it. Grab a board and come along for the ride.

lyrics

Time keeps slipping us by
Waiting on the wind and the waves and the sky
Hoping for a swell, maybe four to five
Barbarian days keep us alive and singing

Catch it
Gotta ride it
Getting barreled
Deep inside it
Put your hands out
Gotta claim it
That’s a wipe out
Paddle back out to the break cause

Surf’s looking mighty fine
Sunset to Topanga and County Line
Speed down PCH to get there in time
Swim out past the groms to make it to the takeoff

Catch it
Gotta ride it
Getting barreled
Deep inside it
Patrick Schwayze
Johnny Utah
Get off my wave
Or else we’re gonna have a problem

Longboard, nose ride
Point break, great white
Sandbar, shoreline
Lifeguard, sunshine
Sunblock, wetsuit
Sex wax, I got you
Costco, wave storm
When I pee, I feel warm

I’ve got a problem, a nasty habit
When the surf’s good you know I gotta have it
10 foot high swells, I know I’m unwell
Take me to Fiji cause nothing else will please me
Deserted island, fuck the dry land
It’s a lifestyle they’ll never understand

Longboard, nose ride
Point break, great white
Sandbar, shoreline
Lifeguard, sunshine
Sunblock, divine
Sex wax, I got mine
Costco, wave storm
When I pee, I feel warm

Catch it
Gotta ride it
Getting barreled
Deep inside it
Put your hands out
Gotta claim it
That’s a wipe out
Paddle back out to the break now
