Coming Over (Friends of Remix)

by Friends of, Quitting Whitney

/

about

This is a remix of a song by my collaborator Matt Rucker (Quitting Whitney). I took his pop-punk, late-night, wistful version, upped the BPM, and added in driving bass, skittering African percussion, upbeat synth riffs, vocal chops, and Sci-Fi sound FX to make it dance-floor ready. I leaned into the longing sexiness of the original, and turned it into a fast-paced love affair that gets the blood pumping. The result is a party song for young people who both love and hate the chase. Dance yourself clean of hookup culture ennui.

lyrics

Are you coming over? Are you coming over?

Uh huh, Uh huh

I call you, waking up in cold sweats, did I lose your number or are you just on my mind?

No answer. What is this a shakedown? Don’t you know I’m special?Babe, you’re one of a kind.

It’s unfair. Oh my mind erase me, take me back to high school. Can I get one more line? If not, hey, I don’t really mind you. This ain’t really over if I feel fine.

I wonder are you coming over, even if it’s late night, I could use another. I wonder are you coming over, be there in an hour, I could be your latest.

Right here, this is what you came for. Heated and you’re reckless, and you’ve got no plan, you’re unchained. This is never over, even if you’re wild. I’m your biggest fan.

One day catch you in a movies, wont you glance over just to feel alive? If not then I don’t really mind you, if I survive.

Wonder are you coming, Wonder are you coming, Wonder are you coming, won, won, won, won.
